My Hero

Wow. This is not an easy thing to do. My husband's sweet father passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning. He had been diagnosed with cancer a few months ago, and though we knew it would eventually end his life, we weren't expecting it to happen so soon. The past couple of days have been a whirlwind of emotions and it almost doesn't feel like he is gone. He truly was one of my heros. He was such a sweet man. So humble and kind. And one the the most generous people I know. I feel like I have so much to say, but for some reason I can't "say" it. I can only feel it. I loved him like my own father and he will be greatly missed.

This photo was taken about 1 month ago. We wanted to get a picture of him before his hair fell out from the chemotherapy. And my favorite picture of all time! This was my husband's Dad and Mom on their honeymoon in Venice, Italy. They got engaged after knowing eachother for only 1 week. And they've been happily married for 40 years! For their honeymoon they went to Europe, bought a Mercedes, and drove all over the country for about a month. Isn't that so romantic?!
I just want to thank all family and friends for being so loving and supportive. Thank you for the flowers, the cards, the phone calls, the emails, the hugs....we are just so overwhelmed and so grateful for it all.
